The Wonderful World of Print

Recently both Sherdan’s Prophecy and Sherdan’s Legacy were moved over to the 2nd edition, complete with the shiny new covers. I’ve also recently published Sherdan’s Country, the third book in the series, and that has a matching cover to the new editions. While I try to get my books in print fairly soon after the ebook it sometimes takes a little while to sort out the logistics, but we’re finally all there.

2015-01-14 14.12.14As you can see the new set look wonderful together, and I’m really pleased with them. They make me want to work on some further plot ideas for Sherdan’s world just so I can have some more with shiny covers like these. It’s just a shame I can’t think of a really good idea at the moment.

As usual I’m selling signed copies of these myself, so if anyone wants one, drop me a message here in the comments or to my email address under about me and I’ll get back to you with how we can make that work.

Now excuse me while I go back to stroking the shiny.

Release day: Sherdan’s Country

The books is finally available, and if you were one of the people who pre-ordered it then it probably appeared on your devices sometime around midnight.

It seems like it’s been quite a ride with these characters and I’m a little sad to have finished the third book but I’ve always made it a rule not to write sequels just for the sake of sequels so until my brain can figure out what more might happen in Sherdan and Anya’s world that’s the trilogy wrapped up.

Sherdan’s Country concludes the beginnings of Utopia and continues the fast paced action and emotion fuelled politics around the new country and its leader, so if you’ve not grabbed a copy yet and want to find out what happens you can do so at all the major ebook sellers – Amazon, Apple, Barnes & Noble, and Smashwords.

Sherdan’s Country Pre-order

There’s only 2 and a bit weeks to go until Sherdan’s Country is available in ebook format.

The book is available to pre-order and you can pick up the first one free here if you’ve not got started on the series yet. If you haven’t read the previous two and don’t mind some spoilerness here’s the blurb:

With Utopia established but no longer under his control Sherdan finds himself with no where to go. Wanted dead by the British government and the new leader of Utopia, he must find a way to take back what’s rightfully his, but even his normal allies are wary of getting involved in this fight.

Can Anya keep him alive while convincing those who hate him to help? And even if they do, will the cost be worth it?

Sherdan’s Country is the third instalment in the Sherdan series and continues the roller-coaster ride of emotions and suspense as the super-humans Sherdan has created fight for independence and freedom.

The book will go live on October 24th at 1 minute past 12 in the morning PST which is just after 8am in the UK. If you’d like to pre-order the book and get it sent straight to your kindle, you can do so here. At the moment that’s the only type you can pre-order on but it should be evailable eventually on Apple, Nook and Kobo.

My 400th Blog Post

I just happened to take a glance at my blog post counter a couple of weeks ago and noticed that I was very close to a multiple of a hundred and found I couldn’t just ignore such a figure once I reached it. I have somehow managed to keep blogging and hit the 400 point!

Last night I asked my husband, Phil, how I should celebrate this. He said I needed pandas so that’s that criteria sorted. Panda babies for you to go awwww over.

Personally I don’t think it’s a celebration without cake, but I’ve not got time to bake today (mostly because I spent a few too many hours looking up origami kusudama) so here’s a picture of some origami I made instead. It’s not a full kusudama yet, but with another 11 of these all put together it would be.

The other thing that celebrations usually have is some kind of free awesome and since Sherdan’s Country is almost finished in second draft and will be on its way to my editor very shortly, I’m giving away an advanced ebook copy of it! Whoever comments on the blog will get their name stuck in a hat and in a week I’ll announce a winner. Standard t’s and c’s will apply, with the exception of the prize delivery time. The advanced copy isn’t technically ready yet but the reader will get a copy of the ebook at least a week before the official launch in late Autumn.

So thank you everyone who’s been reading my writing blogs, reviews, random thoughts, creative experiments and all the other sorts of things I’ve decided were a good idea to blog about in the past and here’s to hundreds more.

NaNoWriMo 2013 – update 1

So I’m doing this challenge again, just likeĀ  I did both of the previous two years. I’m writing Sherdan’s Country, as you can see from the progress bars to the right. This is the third book in this series and has been very easy to write so far.

I’m at 19k as of now and still going fairly strong. I’ve slowed a little, but I think it’s mostly because I’m writing a chapter I’ve not plotted at all at the moment. I only realised I needed it yesterday evening as I was going to bed.

So far there’s been a few surprises for me, especially on Anya’s side of events. She’s acting on impulse a lot and it’s proving quite interesting to write.

Sherdan is the one I’m most proud of. Since Sherdan’s Prophecy he’s grown a lot and I’m really enjoying writing from his point of view.

As NaNoWriMo is going so well I’m seriously considering trying to write the entire book this month, not just the 60k I was aiming for, but I need another couple of 4k+ days to make me really confident about going for such a mammoth number of words in only one month and I’m slower today and not available to write this evening so we’ll see.

I’ve also got quite a few events mid-month which will swallow some of my time as I get closer. Most notably the print launch of book 1 and 2 in the Sherdan series, Sherdan’s Prophecy and Sherdan’s Legacy.

It’s a very Sherdan themed month.

For those who want to keep track themselves you can find my NaNoWriMo stat page here. I update that several times a day with my progress.
